IUS-12 Assessment

See where you stand

IUS-12 — a 3-minute self-assessment

What you're about to do

Twelve honest questions about how you respond to uncertainty. Not a test — a mirror. It shows you where ambiguity gets under your skin, and gives you a starting point for change.

Two sides of the same coin

Intolerance of uncertainty shows up in two ways. You probably recognize both:

  • Prospective Anxiety — the “what if” spiral. Worry about things that haven't happened yet
  • Inhibitory Anxiety — the freeze. When not knowing the answer stops you from acting at all

Where this comes from

The IUS-12 was developed by Carleton, Norton, and Asmundson (2007) and is used widely in research and clinical settings. It's one of the most validated tools for understanding how people respond to the unknown.
